Originally from Warsaw, Indiana, Enrique is a former owner of Hank’s Tattoo and moved to Indy in 2015 to join Untitled Ink.
Art has always been a major part of his life and he grew up in a creative family who used art as a method of escaping life in the projects. His uncles and aunts were artists; drawing, charcoal, pastels, oils and tapestries and his uncle was a local tattoo artist. As a child Enrique would spend hours by his side, watching him work while they would be visiting on vacation.
He started tattooing in 1985: before it was even legal in Indiana. He was just out of high school when, inspired by his art teachers, he went to Radio Shack and bought everything he needed to make his very own tattoo machine. And as they say, the rest is history!
Happy Clients are What Tattoos are all About
His pride in his work comes from seeing happy clients. In some cases, the tattoo has helped them heal or give closure to a part of their lives. He is honored to be the artist chosen to capture those very important moments.
His advice to clients is to take the time to think it through and be creative. It’s not just a number or name that can represent your kids. It should be something that makes you happy when you see it.
Realism, Nature, Animals and Cover-ups
Enrique enjoys realism, and representing nature in general (in his own way of course…) and he likes doing cover-ups for the creativity that they allow. He loves sports and Harley Davidson motorcycles and is a proud fan of Notre Dame, the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR Racing.
Enrique lives in Broad Ripple with his partner Julia and their three dogs. He also has two grown sons in Warsaw and 3 grandchildren under 6!
“Age doesn’t matter. I’m just concerned with today and I am looking forward to tomorrow.”
